Students going into 5th year are given a lot of help and support when choosing their subjects:

  • Information booklets
  • Questionnaires
  • Subject choice seminar
  • Parent talk
  • One-to-one meetings with guidance counsellor
  • One-to-one meetings with subject teachers
  • Work experience (TY students will have completed 4 weeks)
  • CAT 4
  • Website research – www.careersportal.ie, www.qualifax.ie, www.cao.ie, www.ucas.com

Advice always given:

  • Choose subjects you enjoy
  • Ask your subject teacher & guidance counsellor for information
  • Look at some of the subject text-books
  • Choose subjects you are good at
  • Choose subjects you need for your chosen career
  • Keep options open for the future by making balanced choice now
  • Talk to parents/guardians or older pupils
  • Check out some of the relevant internet sites
