A very successful Transition Year Programme has been taken place in St. Anne’s School since 1984. Approximately 80-90% of third year students complete the TY programme each year. The programme continues the development of the core academic subjects with a new innovative approach.
Our vibrant Transition Year Programme includes a wide variety of extra-curricular experiences such as:
- Four Weeks Work Experience
- A joint Musical with the Abbey C.B.S.
- Visits to Activity Centres/Irish College
- European Tour
- An Gaisce Bronze Medal
- School Credit Union
- Student Mentoring
- Mental Health Awareness
- First –aid
- Personal Safety
- Car Safety and Driving lessons.
Students are also encouraged to enter a wide variety of events and competitions. These competitions include:
- BT and Sci-fest Young Scientist Competitions
- Public Speaking/Debating
- Junk Koture
- Young Social Innovators
During the year, strong emphasis is placed on Career Guidance to help students with subject choices in Fifth Year and in future career choices. Visiting Speakers regularly speak to students in relation to career choices.
Due to the varied nature of the programme, students must keep a record of all events in special TY Electronic Journal and Portfolio. These are reviewed throughout the year and assessed before final Graduation in May.
